    Blue brick curved wall

Yep agree. I dread cutting the excess off. Did manage to sponge them down though which seemed to help a fair bit.

    Blue brick curved wall

Decent weather, ditching the dye and proper bucket gauged mixes have made me happier with the slowest wall in the world. It’s still got its issues but it’s the best I can do with blues on a curve. It’s not helped by the stupid comms boxes, one of which is apparently getting removed sometime in...

    Self build extension costs

Of every “trade”, block and brickwork was the one I enjoyed the most. Dunno why, just seemed to be the furthest removed from a hobby DIYer and massive visual impact

    Self build extension costs

I’ve used BPS for about 20 years. Brilliant local merchants. 90% of materials through them unless very obviously cheaper elsewhere - PIR boards were cheaper online at the time, but I think now there’s nothing in it.

    Self build extension costs

Leamington (y) The other thing I forgot to say was, I never planned to do it all myself on day one. I thought I’d go as far as brickwork to dpc etc, then as time went on I just ended up cracking on. I’d think twice about doing it again though - not sure I’ve got the mental strength or time!

    Self build extension costs

Cavity brickwork took several months and I was a lot better when I finished than when I started I did Trench fill foundations

    Self build extension costs

I built mine myself in 2017-2018 as did several others on here. Did everything except muckaway, gas and electric. Total cost for a 2 storey side and single storey full width rear lean-to was 46k, and I know that similar jobs round here would have been about 90k plus for a decent builder as knew...

Good shout on the refurb site, didn’t know there was one

    Evolution cut off saws

All good points. Before this, I did fit the gizmo to spray a fine jet onto the blade, put my thick gloves on and it worked a treat, exactly as you’d want. Part of me is thinking this approach combined with an extra RCD on the plug is ok. But the other part of me is saying taking any risk for the...

    Evolution cut off saws

That was my original concern/question. Guess I may need to rethink then.

    Evolution cut off saws

Bought that exact kit, fitted it easily by drilling the guard both sides and it works a treat.

    Small circular weep vents

They’re to divert water which has got in between the inner and outer skin of a cavity wall, back out of the outer skin. Normally fitted above lintels/openings.

Water fed cutoff saw vs block splitter

I also found a quick dry score with the grinder before a wet cut did the trick, so a few options. Ive also got one of those titan dust extractors but suspect masonry dust may knacker it I’ll deffo avoid the block splitter though, thanks

Water fed cutoff saw vs block splitter

Cheers. Something like a square foot of osb with a couple of parallel 2x2s fixed to it to keep the block in place? Take it you don’t rate the guillotines then? I won’t bother hiring one

Water fed cutoff saw vs block splitter

Do you just live with the dust then? Do you not use those block splitter things?
