So a paint gun mistake has lead to a slight burn/melt of the carpet by the door.

My thoughts are to trim a strip from under the wardrobe, in the alcove (its never going to be moved) and then fix it down.

Is there any carpet gaffer tape to go under and fix them together?

Would rather not buy a whole new carpet and currently in the dog house

It might look a bit odd but you could trim the burnt carpet back to a line parallel to the door and then fit an carpet edge strip there. Then the floor covering that will be laid on the floor boars in the next room can be extended under to door to meet the carpet.

Thanks for the replies
We looked at trimming it back and having a wide oak strip, however placing some thin wood down, it looked a but silly.

We're going with the trim some carpet from under the wardrobe in the alcove (Sorry new buyers in 5years...) and attaching that.Probably with the spray. Though this may just make the carpet seems flat and strange, as no underlay in that section... Just have to see

When I was younger I did this with a circle of carpet that I cut from behind the sofa! It was a shag pile so it was never detected :D It must have been strange to the builders that refurbished the house a few years ago when the pulled up the carpet and found a small circle of it was glued to the floor :D Good luck.
