Evening gents,

Am in the process of fitting downlighters to my bathroom and after venturing into the loft discovered that printed on the plasterboard ceiling sheets is 'fireproof plasterboard made by british plaster...' (can't make out the rest)

Just to be better safe than sorry is there any chance that these sheets contain asbestos? House is ex-council 1950's /60's (Had/has asbestos gutters/downpipes, soffits, soil pipe)

The plasterboard seems to be a paper(fibre'ish) sandwich and produces white/very light grey powder when drilled (carefully!)

I've tried to search around and research the subject but some of the sites and pictures/articles appear to be confusing the matter!

I'm probably being way too cautious here but any ideas appreciated :)

Cheers

There has never been any asbestos in plasterboard.

If that white coating is a textured paint pre-1980, then there may be some asbestos content in the coating
