the standby battery failed, alarm system powered down as per manual instructions, when new battery fitted all the leds illuminate and no response from the panel buttons.Texecom suggested only power up using the mains supply but this did not cure the problem.Does anyone know how to restore the NVM (non volatile memory)to its original factory settings?.

have you tried removing mains and battery, powering up mains first?

oh and write the battery date on it and change it in 4 -5 years time

The book I have says comission the battery first!! I have done it the wrong way around before and blown the battery fuse lol. Can you check all the fuses which are accessable in the panel? I don't think you can clear the memory without the engineer code but since you can't access via the keypad this is no use whatsoever.

Please be aware this will completely erase all the panel programming including all engineer and user codes and zone settings.

i have tried all these suggestions many times and had no response from the panel, looks like its a bin job, many thanks for the replies.

Is there a date on the PCB? Usually at the top of the PCB (c) TEXECOM 19??.

Also is there a sticker on the outside of the main control box which says someting like: Insist on 5VA?
