Patio overall looks good, but what's happened to the mortar joints here?
Also you don't think it would have looked good if the home owners opted for a decorative ballustrade of some sort at the end of the walls?

Unfortunately, there is no escape from the rain when laying a patio of this size especially when you are stabbing with a mortar jointed slab. All the falls are directed over the walls etc.
