    Are you talking about the sealing the top most layer of floor covering (that people walk on, like tiles)? If so I agree and that part will most probably be done by a specialist.     I can't see the lack of DPM causing problems unless the pre-existing tarry layer was also removed in those same areas, or if rising damp is already a problem. But the builders excuse of there being 'no room' to lay the DPM doesnt make a lot of sense because even the heaviest gauge plastic sheet...

    The polythene DPM for my wet room will sit beneath layers of insulation and a concrete slab. If the floor gets regularly wet, where will the water go? Presumably it wouldn't be ideal for the concrete and insulation to be waterlogged all the time. Therefore should I leave a few deliberate drain...
