When to apply damp proof paint?

It is semi detached. I've already had it plastered and I'm going to decorate it. There is no other route forward as I've said I've had several "experts" and people on here weigh in and no one has given an adequate solution. Hope the damp proof membrane used by the plasterer can stop it showing...

When to apply damp proof paint?

Well not sure what I should do then. This is what I've been told by members of this forum and other builders so then I'm lost. I'm not an expert and don't have any experience dealing with building or anything like that, I work with computers for a living, so what do I do? I try and speak to...

When to apply damp proof paint?

The chimney was removed previously I'm guessing old soot has caused the damp issue it was stripped back to brickwork and then treated (not swept but some kind of product was used to prevent the damp penetrating) then finished with a breathable plaster. I'm just going to mist coat and decorate...

When to apply damp proof paint?

Hi, I had a problem with old soot causing some damp on a wall. It was hacked back to brick work and treated with some product and plastered with limelite plaster. It's had several weeks to dry now and I'm ready to think about painting it. My plasterer suggested a layer of damp proof paint...

Shall i get the plasterer back or am i being fussy?

Hi, I recently had 4 rooms plastered in my house. Mostly it looks okay but on one wall there was an issue with damp after removing the wallpaper. The plasterer suggested removing to the brickwork then using some layer of sealing I guess or damp treatment and then a particular type of plaster...

Damp spot on plaster behind wallpaper - plasterer coming next week.

Hi, can you explain please how you know there are two flues in the upstairs bedroom? Also where should I put the vent? To be clear are we talking about the room directly above the current damp patch (post #10, second picture). Thanks

Is this okay if the ceiling is being overboarded?

Hi, I'm having this ceiling overboarded later on this week. I just wanted to know if this is okay for the boards to go directly on or if I should scrape the paper too. I'd initially planned to leave the paper on completely but when I was pulling the coving down the top layer of paper started...

Damp spot on plaster behind wallpaper - plasterer coming next week.

Okay, roofers never provided anything, they were hired by the main company doing the job and have been working with them, I didn't hire them directly, they weren't here too long maybe 1-2 hours. So where does the vent need to go, in room directly above the damp spot? Or in the other bedroom...

Damp spot on plaster behind wallpaper - plasterer coming next week.

Thank you very much for the reply, let me address those points please. 1. Thank you will ask the plasterer. 2. Possibly, I've fully decorated that one now and when I was stripping the paper I didn't notice any damp patches etc. I know you mentioned it can appear at anytime, I may just hope...

Damp spot on plaster behind wallpaper - plasterer coming next week.

Hi here are the pictures, I scratched a bit of the black brick and it definitely smells like soot! So I think you must be right. Here is the picture of the full wall Here is the upstairs wall in the room directly above Not sure why the alcoves would be needed there and not downstairs...

There is a chimney breast on the front side of the house too, there used to be a fire in the front living room, it has been boarded over and plastered, capped at the top with a vent in the living room for air...
