Rusty marks on slates... If it's the nail, the nail disease is on it's way. That is a longterm problem. Removing rust marks is simple. It involves dissolving the iron oxide. This is done without fuss using a mild acidic paste. You can do it DIY, small batch first for a test. The acid must be a mild organic acid. The thickening is done by sprinkling a small amount of cellulose ( from a wall paper sachet) until the paste is thick enough to stay where you apply it. Wash after 20 mn. If some rust is left, repeat the application, or wait for longer.
