Thanks for that, he uses the loft a lot already and hadnt cited any health concerns so I'm certainly having a rethink or thinking how i can make it safer. Not a huge garden, 3 kids who need the space to play.

DIY, my husband and I did the rest of it together so I had been hoping to finish it off as a surprise for him.

Thanks for the input, as mentioned. We had the same set up in our previous house. Didn't tend to get used on the hottest or coldest days but plenty in between
