  • Many thanks Harry, You've just saved my Hotpoint WF530! I don't know whereabouts in Yorkshire you are but if it's anywhere near Leeds I owe you a pint. Otherwise perhaps you could nominate a charity for donations because it looks as if your discovery has helped a lot of folks.
10:30 this morning was stood in John Lewis, on brink of spending £400-500 on new washing machine. Googled my current model to get dimensions and came upon your blog about this fault. Headed off to maplins for the capacitor - an hour wrestling control board out of machine (and a few scratches), 10 mins to desolder duff capacitor and solder new one in, 20 mins to put all back together....working a treat. Total cost...58 pence plus petrol to maplins. THANK YOU!
Thanks for your original post and diagnosis of the C17 fault.I fixed my sons Hotpoint Ultima wt741 with a 1000uf 16v cap recovered from an old RM motherboard. I only registered to thank you.
Hi Harry think i have the same problem with my washing machine all the lights flash on an off on my hotpoint aqualtis aqxxl 129 pi. Do you think its the c17 capicitator, do you have any diagrams on how to do it and do you have the part, if so how much. Thanks Carl
Harry, I did not take full note of the connections before I removed them from the main control unit! is there any chance you would have more pics or a digram with colours so I can be sure I am replacing them correctly. BTW the model of my washer is Hotpoint WF101. Many thanks.
