Foundations for Kerb Edging around Concrete garden Patio

I've just laid a concrete patio and paths which I'm going to edge with salvaged charcoal kerb blocks.

The kerb blocks will sit between the concrete and flower beds. The paths slope at various gradients and the patio is circular, so I plan to butt the blocks together with mortar between each one. There's about 20 meters to do!

I'll be using a cement mixer for the mortar. Will it be sufficient to lay the blocks in a bed of mortar as I go? Will 1:4 cement to soft sand be okay?

This may help, I recently set some charcoal pavoirs (80m) on 10:1 semi dry mix (got from the 'bedding' section on this link.
After a few days it was very solid.

80m is a lot of paviors! I take it you didn't mortar between each block - so how did you deal with bends? Or were they straight run(s)?

No need to mortar, just butted up, I did add flaunching around the sides.

They were straight runs, but had to mitre the corners, I used a grinder, but it's dusty.
