Excessive Gas Consumption - Not sure what to try next!

I have Tado trvs on all radiators except the towel rails in the bathrooms (which have traditional trvs).

Tomorrow, when there is noone at home I will turn off the boiler and measure the actual usage via meter reads when turned on from cold.
I used to have smart TRV's on all my radiators, I have now removed nearly all of them. It makes no sense heating a room at a time.

That's interesting. It goes against the modern accepted practice. I agree, because I don't like walking into rooms which are freezing.

How cold was it for the period of the screenshot? When was the screenshot period? I could check mine for a comparison?
Here is a screenshot of the weather over the January period. Not sure how accurate this is though as the last two weekends have been sub zero temps.

How will you "turn off the boiler" ?
The frost stat will overide any timer(Tado) settings and it is not advisable to let your external (garage) boiler freeze
The boiler has a switch which I will turn off.

However the gas usage only peaked to about 10 kWh as you can see from the picture.
Surprisingly low, if each peak is a whole day's usage. I'd suspect an issue with the Tado readings.
Gas usage for December in my 3-bed house averaged ~50kWh per day.

They are invaluable to me as I use them to turn off the heating on several rooms we do not use, or turn off heating in rooms at certain times of day on a schedule.

Thank you for the insight, very useful. This means your usage is approximately 1,500 kWh per month. Still a LOT lower than my 5,000 kWh!!!

But your Octopus gas usage suggests that something is turning your boiler on periodically all day long. How have you setup the heating schedules in Tado?

It varies room by room. But essentially I only have my study heated during the day and then by evening the other rooms we use are heated ready for when everyone gets home. During the night only the bedrooms have a temp set to stop people freezing overnight.

Because you said there is no point in heating one room at a time and that implies the system is out of balance and the radiators are not heating in unison!
Gotcha but I was referring to how smart TRV's are able to call for heat individually just to heat their radiator and no others.
