Just wondered if anyone's sucessfully replaced the hinges on a Laufen Kartell Toilet Seat ?
Mine are lose and look pretty grubby so would like to replace, yet seem impossibe to remove once in (maybe the only way is taking the toilet off the wall etc).
(I can turn the nut with a wrench but it just turns and nothing happens).

Possibly rust has rendered the thread useless. Consider using a multi tool to grind of the base nut

Try pulling the fitting up while tightening (NOT loosening) the nut. Might be enough to get the piece underneath to stop rotating. If you loosen the top part, the bottom may come off and drop into the void.

But to get to the base nuts, the OP will have to take the toilet completely off the wall. The only way I can think of avoiding that is to see if you can prise the part of the mounting on top of the toilet far enough away from the toilet to get a saw or multi tool in to cut it off. The base nuts will then drop into the void and you can replace with new fittings.

To be honest I've decided to leave it for now. The toilet seat is a little lose but it's not the end of the world. Seems like a pretty bad design for what was quite an expensive toilet. Next time I'll stick with B&Q loos!

Cordless drill , clamp chuck on top of pin then spin anti clockwise while gently pulling up .Remember you are removing several inches of thread bar before anything comes away .(probably at least 50 rotations to remove depending on pin length )
