The tails have to pass thru the nut , washer, the loose threaded tube and sink before the tails screw into tap base while above the sink, then tightened and threaded sleeve tightens over the tails . No a great design . Had same problem with kitchen sink but was able to fit prior to sink install...

Can’t use box spanner tap tails prevent its use . All fixed now , ground down my tap wrench to fit , still only room for 8th of a turn with that . Thanks for suggestions .

Might have to butcher my tap wrench with grinder to widen it .

As I said , no room for it .

Neither of those work, basin wrench does not open wide enough nor does it grip a slim nut ( around5-6mm) and not enough room for it . Box spanner can’t be used around flexi hoses which have to be fitted first .

Pour liquid soap ( diluted) into drum before adding clothes.

Is there a similar tool to this with wider jaws? Have a new basin tap and it has a single large nut underneath but standard wrench is 4-5 mm too narrow.
