Planning permission for linking garage with main building

I suspect yes. PD assessment looks at the whole structure added to the original property so would probably take you way over 50% of the existing width when the garage is added to the new infill.

    Existing drainage through concrete footing

That's an important detail to omit!! What does effectively mean though? So best options: lift the beam so pipe goes under with say 50 clear or.. drop the beam so the pipe goes over again 50 clear. If neither is possible deepen the beam so your main steel has continuity and cover and maintains...

    Existing drainage through concrete footing

Is yours or public? If the latter you generally stop 150 clear either side woth your concrete and use a couple of PSC lintels over but to Water Co's requirements. If it's yours then just BC to satisfy so wrapping may be ok, but personally the reduction in volume of dig, muck away and concrete...

    Thoughts/advice about welding

Go for it: SIP are an established name and Toolstation won't be selling rubbish. Have a look at Machinemart as a comparison. I doubt you'll need 120A TBH. I generally run at 70-80A and I'm pretty sure they're 2.5mm rods which are fine for a wide range of jobs around the house. Treat yourself...

    Asbestos in ceiling?

You would be more likely to do multiple samples if there was a chance of finding asbestos. Where it's highly unlikely most peeps would just get on or you can send in a sample to confirm. So easy to get paranoid about the wretched stuff.

    How to install this threshold

The white bit is what you screw to the floor, The threshold piece gets tapped down into it hiding the screws. Simples!!

One of these must be load bearing, but which one?

I don't think I've ever seen purlin supports at 1200 crs. Like any beam the loading (rafter length) and section (you'll find anything from 4x2 to 9x3) determines the length the beam can run between supports. I would expect the props to come back to the central wall but you do need eyes on and...

    Inner wall beam placement method

Not so sure about the "I" Harry. Or perhaps you meant Architect Idiocy.

My Builder is digging out for my extension and dumping tons of earth on my back lawn Neighbours are complaining.

Unless his quote specifically says arisings to remain on site I would view it as a cowboy chancing his arm. Hand portable conveyors are another option for moving muck through a house. One assumes he has a plan for the concrete, bricks etc to go the other way?

    Dremel for kids?

Fair play to you for your plan and fair play also to the mum for not just plopping them down with the 'putor. I had my grandmonsterskids (7 & 9) banging in nails prior to laminating a floor just a couple of weeks ago and they loved it. Agree with all FMT's comments and would add gardening...

Damp coming up through concrete floor

It seems to me that if the heating chaps have cut through your dpm (the bitumen) and done nothing to reinstate it then the onus is squarely on them. You might wind up at a state of equilibrium where the water leaking in was evapourated by the pipes and the floor stayed dry but I very much...

building/ upgrade a small road track

You find farmers all over the place. Heavy recovery firms are another possible. In truth an obliging driver on the unit will get an empty trailer into some pretty unlikely places though some are proper jobsworths and refuse to do anytthing other than drive along a road, We still don't what...

building/ upgrade a small road track

For a one off I would just get a local friendly farmer with a big tractor and a dolly to drag the trailer in. You might need to think about some form of protection for the gas pipes if the trailer is loaded but if there is no restriction on the field in general then you should be ok empty.

    ballast to concrete ratio please?

I'd have to stick to fool even if with good intentions because he's used much more cement than he need have over the years. He could have used half the cement and those houses would still be standing: founds need very little strength. Even with groundbeams when we are designing elements to...

    tiling on wood

The pros will lokely view it a bodge but I've used constructipn adhesive for this kind of situation several times with nary an issue.

Planning for spring. Hardwood floor and glue removal

So maybe <30 days and cold weather. I'd say it's likely the screed hadn't thoroughly dried out: simple as that and if so then the floor layer should have advised waiting. The hollow in your first pic just looks like bad levelling in the screed

    ballast to concrete ratio please?

Your teacher was a fool or incompetant. "Correct" for what? Concrete comes in myriad forms for myriad applications. We can vary the strength, how quickly it gains that strength. how easy it is to place, its density. We vary the mix to suit the size of the element we're casting. A mass...
