Hi everyone, I've tried to read as many past comments on this as possible, but am struggling to find a definite answer! Long story short I installed new ducting for a kitchen extractor fan. There is a small gap around the edges that needs to be filled to stop warm air getting into the loft...

    Caulk help

Hi! I’ve been decorating our lounge the past 5 days, we cleared cracks in the plaster out, filled with polyfilla, and caulked with “soudal decorators caulk” in the corners of the walls, and around skirting and dado rails. This morning I’ve noticed that the paint is looking a different colour and...

    Exterior window seal advice

Hi All - I have some uPVC windows installed outside with no seal around the edges. I’ve sealed the sides but not sure if I should seal top or bottom. I’ve had some issues with dampness on that wall (lower side) and mouldy wood at the top. Do I need to seal all around the window? The...

Hi, Had plastering work done recently and at the time he also put up new coving to match existing coving (we had built in wardrobes when we moved in, took them out and there was no coving behind). When he installed it he told me that cause the old coving has been painted on so much over years...

untidy glazing seal in old wooden door.

I recently had new glazing fitted in the front door and it's surround. The joins between the glass and the wooden frames are uneven and bumpy. Should I use caulk, then paint over it, or wood filler? Glazing sealant? Thanks for your advice

    Sealing skirted bathtub

There are plenty of tutorials for sealing/caulking bathtubs. However, my bathtub has a kind of skirting around its edge, as in picture: How do I go about that? Should I caulk both edges? I plan to use standard silicone, would that be good for both? Is there any particular I should keep in mind...

Can I use caulk on a metal garage door?

Hi, I a re-painting a Henderson galvanised garage door from the mid 80s. The paint was generally pretty loose, so after 12 hours scraping and a few spots of Nitromorse, it's basically completely bare and rust free. Where the main metal sheet meets the vertical end pieces, there is some gaps...

Replacing seal around steel garage door frame

Apologies for the long post... I gather that using expanding foam to fill the gap between the frame and the masonry, then caulking with silicone, is the way to go. I'm wary of putting in too much foam, in case it expands to the point of separating the frame further from the masonry. Does...

    Feedback request - design project

Hi all, I'm currently undertaking a project to redesign the way in which caulk and silicone sealant is packaged due to the unsustainable nature of the rigid cartridges most commonly used. If anyone could spend 5 minutes filling out the survey below it would be greatly appreciated...
