Possibly a dumb question, but is is compliant to put an IP rated lightswitch in a bathroom, e.g. IP66 outdoor lightswitch?
Presumably the issue is condensation rather than wet hands or splashing? Are IP rated lightswitches condensation proof?
Presumably pull cord switches are not condensation...
Hello
I want to replace an old rotating dimmer switch with a wifi dimmer switch preferably, but if that works out too impossible or complicated, I would be happy enough to just have a normal 2 gang switch or 1 gang switch.
It's in a living room beside a kitchen, the kitchen has a 2 gang...

I moved into a new house at the beginning of the year and am slowly knocking down odd jobs 1 by 1.
In the hallway there is a light and double light switch at the bottom of the stairs and the same again at the...
Hi All,
This is my first post here ever, so please be gentle with me!
I have a double-garage with an automatic "up and over door" which is operated by a key fob: I reverse my car into the drive, press the button, the garage door opens, and I reverse into the garage, then close the garage door...
I'd like to install a dimmer switch to control my lighting.
I know you can get rotary dimmers like these: http://goo.gl/kuPhwq, which are the usual way to install this.
Instead, I would like to use a 3 way retractive switch for dimming. I've seen 3 position retractive switch modules from...
Good afternoon. I'm fitting new metal faceplates to light switches, they have an earth socket on the back, do I remove the earth wire from the housing and attach it to the faceplate or run another wire from the housing to the faceplate and leave the wire where it is.
Many thanks
Hi all,
Just moved into a house with an old dimmer switch in it, that requires a BS646 3A fuse to work. The fuse has gone, so was thinking I'd just put in a modern 1G1W switch. The front of the existing dimmer looks like this.
The wiring at the back (this house has the old UK wiring...
I am trying to fit a new lightswitch and have read that I need to connect the earth cable to the faceplate first, then to the backplate. However, I can't fit both into the hole in the faceplate. What should I do?
Thanks.
Paul
I have replaced some ugly old light switches in our house with some new ones which are smaller. Unfortunately we now have a horrible gap of between 5-10mm all around the light switch which the old ones covered.
What's the best/easiest way to fill this in? I don't have much experience of this...
