Mea culpa; mea maxima culpa! Dropped a heavy chunk of metal on the water pipe feeding into the above pump (don't ask). Threads on black plastic end cap of said pump went snap! Need a new end cap - possibly also a new non-return valve wouldn't go amiss, since it's about 15 years old. Can't make...
