railway ballast

I have a driveway approx 25 square meters that I want to lay railway ballast (30-70mm) on. It would be in a border of sunken railway sleepers turned on their side. I was thinking about laying a membrane under and have the ballast about 6" deep. Do you think it would work? Is there any problems I...
