under the new regs I cannot see the need for a time delay 100mA rcd AS ALL CIRCUITS WILL HAVE 30mA RCD PROTECTION and therefore no real need for discrimination is this correct?
Certainly your sockets and any circuit`s entering the bathroom will have to be RCD protected to 30mA BUT if you have a lighting or other circuit that is surface mounted then because of ADS time`s not likely to be met then those circuits will have to be RCD protected to the tune of 100mA type S to offer disscrmination between the 30mA and the 100mA.
Or feed the RCDs independantly from a main switch so they do not need to discriminate?
A BSEN 61008 type S RCD can disconnect from 130 - 500ms, max time permitted by BS7671:2008 for TT systems @ 230v in table 41.1 is 200ms.
