Can you help I'm fitting a new 10.5kw shower but have been told by a spark I need to change the cable from 6mm to 10mm is this correct, or would I get away with 6mm.
In certain circumstances (no correction factors) you can get away with 6mm² but I highly recommend you install 10mm² unless there are issues besides being lazy and cheap that prevent you doing so.
If there are good reasons for not wanting to change to 10mm² then you must ensure there are no correction factors that will apply to the cable. These include: being bunched with other cables, being run in conduit/trunking/areas of high ambient temperature/insulated walls or ceilings and you also have to consider voltage drop too.
