I’m redoing my home office at the moment and want to put my 80l fish tank on the boxing that was created above the stairs. Assuming 80l of water, plus tank, plus rocks, it needs to be capable of holding about 120kg.
The room is being stripped back to see how the boxing is constructed which I’ll post a pic in a moment but I’ll try and explain.
The boxing is made from blockwork sat on two 7"x2" sistered joists. The boxing is perpendicular and tied into another blockwork wall (left of image). The span of the sistered joists I would estimate to be 7ft as it sits on a blockwork wall downstairs.
There is a timber frame to create triangles which forms the piece above the stairs.
Sufficient to hold the weight required?
