hi

does anyone know where i can buy a 12v transformer (for low voltage lighing) in excess of 500w? i ideally want about 20 50v lights (it's for a fairly big operation) but looking at it i might have to break them down into 4s and use 200w transformers.

farnell do a 1000w one for £710, but this seems unusually high priced.

thanks, tom.

Why? Is there a problem that you cant use 1/fitting.

it would be cheaper to use smaller transformers (ideally one / lamp)

your one transformer would weigh quite a lot and also supply nearly 84 amps that would be fun if you daisy chained the lamps

I agree either use one solid state T/Former per lamp or maximum of say 4 lamps. Otherwise if the T/Former fails you will lose all of the lamps. Also look for units with Soft Start and inteligenyt output so that if lamps fail the output is reduced to save power.

Look here

and here

Both excellent companies with good prices who sell direct to the public as well as trade at the prices published .
