Hi guys, I recently ripped an old tap out in a friend’s new restaurant as it was old and wobbly.

Anyway, the tap was connected via 2 copper tails in to generic connectors and then into some plastic 15mm pipe running to the mains.

There were no inserts used (it’s been there about 20 years I believe).

I want to use SpeedFit. I plan to get a new tap and some SpeedFit tap hoses with some SpeedFit in-line connectors and some SpeedFit inserts.

My questions is, is it ok to use the SpeedFit inserts and in-line connectors on the non SpeedFit 15mm pipe that’s already there?

I want to use the connectors to extend the pipe a bit as the distance between the pipe and tap is exactly 300mm and it’s very tight.

Thanks.

Some brands are interchangeable and you can look that up.
You should use an inset.
You could use a compression joint to couple the different brands or just risk it if it looks ok.

Most plastic pipe has the same OD, it's usually the ID that's different so you may find some inserts difficult to get into other plastic pipe. Where possible use the same inserts for the same fittings, so use superseal inserts on JG fittings and it should be fine.
