Hello all, can anyone help me?

My Punto makes a whining/squeaking noise whenever I start up. It comes and goes, I think it may be a worn belt, can anyone shed some light on this please?

worn belt. One of my neighbours cars does this. wish she would get it changed, she wakes me up every morning

You're probably right with your diagnosis. Check the alternator belt and power steering belt(if fitted) for correct tension. Twist the belts you shouldn't be able to twist them any more than about 45 degrees. Also check for cracking. Tension and replace as necessary.
