I have posted before on this but need a bit of clarification if thats in the offing??
Am installing a 800 x 1200 wetroom shower to the corner of my en suite, the project is new build and was originally going for a raised shower tray but changed my mind.
One of my concerns is everyone is reomending Narine ply (have you seen the price of that ****??) were as i have a piece of 18mm hardwood ply for the job (surely if marine ply is being used then you are expecting a failure somewere??) so am happy to stay with my hardwood ply, the 20mm pre fall formed tray sits on this albeit with a bit of self leveller to bed it completely.
Now my concerns are with the floor walls junction. fortunately i have backie boarded the corner out with this leading onto plasterboarded and skimmed wall beyond the 1200mm x800mm.
the shower tray company comes with a tanking kit, would this kit be just for the perimeter of the tray or am I needing to tank the walls (joints, screw heads, of the backie board??)

Any tips on this most welcome.

Definately use marine ply, the extra cost is worth it. It doesn't require a "failure" for some moisture to accumulate between the ply wood and the floor covering. Moisture vapour will permeate through ordinary ply and can condensate on the under wide of the floor covering.

I constructed a similar arrangement but fabricated the tray myself as standard trays did not meet the requirements of the suspended floor. The floor around the tray is oiled American Oak boards laid, with un-seales gaps, on 12 mm marine ply and after 5 years is still as good as new despite significant amounts of water missing the shower tray
