2 way dimmer switch

Hi Guys

Iam really confused, hope you can help? We have recently decorated our and the good lady wants us to swap our regular light switch to a dimmer.

We have i ceiling light and one wall light run from a 2-way switch. I bought a 2-way dimmer but looking at the wiring am unsure as to how this should be wired.

the current wiring had L1 L2 C at top and same at the bottom with an earth connect to the back box. the wiring on the current switch was set with a red wire connect to both C and L1 at the top and Yellow and Blue wires connect to Blue L1 and Yellow connect to C at bottom.

Both the blue and yellow wires are also covered with red sheath.

The new dimmer switch as 2 dimmer switches but am unsure despite the wiring guide how this should be wired.

It sounds like you have a two gang, one way switch.

Functionally, the old switch terminals are usually arranged in two triangles, not two rows. C on the top row is grouped with L1 & L2 on the bottom row, and vice versa.

Some switches and dimmers use different labelling conventions for their terminals. You may find the dimmer has L1, L2 and L3.
L1 = Com
L2 = L1
L3 = L2

Sometimes Common is marked ~v~ (A wavy line with a vertical arrow)
Some dimmers have a 'slave' terminal. You only need this if there is more than one switch controlling a light.

Assuming you only have one cable at the switch, try connecting the Red to both Common terminals on the dimmers, and the sleeved yellow and blue wires one to each L1 terminal.
