Don't get stroppy mate, if you had sought advice before you started you wouldn't be in this mess.

The earth core isn't called the 'circuit protective conductor' because it sounds cool, it is there to carry fault current to stop your house from burning down and to stop yourself and others getting a belt, therefore you can not simply sleeve it brown and leave it unprotected.

Did you run the concealed cable in conduit or cover it with capping before it was plastered?

no was just clipped and plastered straight over, can i just clip a earth cable from a nearby heating pipe, but the lights are plastic so do we need a earth

not only do you need the earth for the purpose it is intended, but you cant use it to carry phase as its not double insulated (or protected by a surrounded earth conductor but I think that goes without saying).

Edit:
I actually wrote the above before I saw your response:

screws etc are still metal (yes you can get plastic ones) and as its not 1950 anymore regulations are that you need an earth provision. (if not for you for the next person that comes along) and my point about double insulation stands.

Also the earth along the cable protects it if the insulation breaks down. –also sparkies test this when testing an insulation they cant test your installation as it is because it isn’t up to current standards! –failed, not good if you ever plan on selling the house.

do yourself a favour and sort it before you paint /wallpaper. the longer you leave it the harder it is to sort!

edit (again):
no you cant take an earth from a heating pipe, what about when you have a leak and you put some platic pipe in! and the earth should be from the same circuit, if nothing else when you come to sell your house and the sparky tries to test your installation... oh im repeating myself.

i dont see a problem with this as it has also been done in my house and as mine was inspected by a electrician and mine passed
