Hi all

just been reading through the site and found it excellent information, on most of the questions asked.

What would you use to replace a 20 yr old kingfisher ii that is leaking very badly?

Thanks in advance.

Not a very efficient boiler but certainly bombproof.

I would repair the leak.

as DP said nice boiler

is the leak coming from heat exchanger if so I aint so sure that you can get another

the leak is very bad and will have to be changed. It is floor standing and because they are no longer made i think either kingfisher rsl or idea mexico He as these seem to be the only ones on market that are floor standing, but seem to be quite a price.

I have been running a Potterton Kingfisher II, balanced flue, for 20 years on 18 rads , 4 of which are doubles in a large det. house and there has been plenty of heat output at low boiler settings. So far my only replacement part has been a boiler thermostat.

And its still as inefficient as the day it was fitted 20 years ago!

I am sure the OP has some walls in his house to fit a nice modern condensing boiler and recover the floor space. A Worcester 12Ri or 18Ri is a very easy replacement.

Very inefficient but not as expensive or difficult to repair as a modern steamer. Try pricing some of the parts fitted on a condensing boiler.

Heat exchanger and associated bits are becoming difficult to find now.

We rebuilt a leaky 160K Btu one earlier this year but it was risky to take on because not all the parts were available.
