After a radiator pipe broke and flooded the bathroom, I have a really soft and spongy floor. The house was built in mid 70's and has 3/4" chipboard, I am intending to replace it with a new floor. I was told that I should get 22mm P5 chipboard. So here's my problem as the water isn't educated and went where it wanted, it has also weakened some flooring on the landing. I have removed the skirting and was hoping to edge the new board under and refit smaller skirting. But how do I run the new thickness and the original on the landing? Could I recess where the joist is and blend it in to the bathroom until it at the new thickness? I was going to have 19mm, but the merchant said I would struggle to get anything to match up. However, I don't know how I can avoid a step between the two floors.
