2391 exam

has anybody taken the c&g 2391 exam without having to take the 3 or 4 day course and if so where ?

Have a look here. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. It seems you can take the written part or the practical part on their own.

Took the C&G2382 exam direct with the IET without attending any prior courses but that is a lot easier to do than with the C&G2391.

When I took mine there was a practical content and can't see how you could take this as an outside candidate as to include the practical it would be something like a 6 hour exam. And there would be safety issues for a college to allow a student of whom they have no knowledge take the exam as he could kill himself.
I will assume nothing has changed so you will not be able to take as an outside candidate.
Not sure on watered down C&G 2392 though.
