I'm going to be buying a couple of 4m plastic roundline gutters from Wickes.
Have any DIYers here successfully transported 4m gutters home in a small hatchback?

Could be expensive guttering, if you're caught by the police

Mind you there are'nt many about these days are there

Worst case you could injure somebody and face a law suit.

You just cant fit a quart into a pint pot.

Yes. I was thinking about sticking them out the back and tying a tea towel round the end to warn other motorists. It seems to work for low loader lorries carrying steel girders.

Otherwise, what are the options -- get 'em delivered, hire a van, buy a roof rack. All too expensive for a DIY job.

either but shorter lengths or cut in half

how would you feel if you were severly injured by a gutter coming from some ones car?

They can be folded in half.

Are you sure about this? 4 metre roundline gutters. They seem too thick to do this.

Alternatively, I could buy a 4 metre length. Then cut it down to 3 metre outside the DIY store! A bit of a waste and my existing gutter brackets are set up for 4 metre lengths.

Thanks

>They can be folded in half.<

Just been to Wickes to check out the gutters. They'll bend slightly but no way will they fold in half without ruining them, I reckon.

ive just bought 4 lengths of 4 metre gutter from wickes, couldnt be bothered to tie them on the roof of my van so i folded them in half and put them inside.believe me it works! they are now all fitted and working.

I've done it to, just don't press the crease too hard. :D

Why not just order it from somewhere else over the internet and pay a small delivery charge, so much easier. You've probably lost the best part of a week deliberating.

I believe you are right about folding 'em in half. I tried it last night with some old guttering. It seemed to unfold with no creases! Amazing.
