Anyone know anything about the relatively new garden strimmers that don't require oil in the fuel?

Has the engine oil in the sump or are the bearings preloaded with grease?

Will it rev high enough to be as good as the 2 stroke engine it seems to be replacing, probably because of even tighter EU emission regulations

The only thing, it should be an easy starter?

They have oil in the engine, unlike 2 stroke engines.

Honda strimmers have been doing it for a while.

Two main types really.....the Honda 4 stroke strimmer is a wet sump engine with no oil pump.....there's so much oil in there that splash lube seems to be fine.
The Stihl 4 Mix engine is actually a four stroke engine with no lube in the sump...lubrication is by a conventional mixture (50:1 fully synthetic) and its so designed that oil mist gets to all of the moving bits.....well clever and I haven't had a failure yet!
Both of these machines are willing starters....the Honda has a manual choke that presets the idling speed, and the Stihl has a conventional choke and a throttle trigger that locks on full for starting. Both have fuel primer buttons.
