I think in the heat of the moment for any sportsman, with the blood rushing...oh...it's cricket.

It's called an 'ugly' argument for a minute in the media, I've not seen it, must be too ugly to view.

Arguing with the referee's decision, or umpire, or whatever they are called, they have the final decision, and anyone would be angry to be told you are wrong, if you think you are right, as I am told on here, on a regular basis! So 40% paycut, yes, it's not like he's on the poverty line is it?

I like Ponting as a batsman and sportsman so to see him remonstrating with the umpire was bang out of order.

Cricket 'aint like football where the officials are treated with maximum disrespect, because games like cricket and rugby are played by sporting gent's and not estate yobbos.

I don't believe it would be in the interest of this Ashes series to ban him as this would then give the Ossies a lame excuse for defeat, when in reality England are giving our antipodean cousins a right battering.

It was hardly ugly!
He was obviously disappointed by the decision not to give KP out, but it looked to me that he was quite gentlemanly about his objections and was seeking clarification of the discission, which the umpire clearly offered.
I think 40% of his match fee was a bit harsh, but his batting has been poor so maybe it evens it's self out.
It's a shame when a sportsman is not allowed to show a bit of passion on the field of play, after all they are getting their Aussie asses kicked!

I always think that the Australians when they get it wrong don't like it, can't take it, and throw there toys out of the pram.
I think they are gobsmacked at what England have done to them and only know how to behave like naught spoiled brats.

What, in pound notes, does this 40% equate to?

And why don't the same rules apply to footballers when they argue over nothing?

Didn't Ponting kick off after the decision had been referred to the third umpire? it's shameful behaviour.
