I've just come home and no ones here.

How do I wash something that's 50% cotton and 50% polyester? This is the machine settings:

And this is the stuff:

Would you pour that in the tray or put it in with the clothes?

Thanks

I've done it now, synthetic, 30degrees with the stuff in the drum.

Whiter than white!!! My racist blue jumpers

If it was lightly soiled, you could have done it on the quick 30 setting.

Did you use conditioner; are you safe to use a washing machine Ian.

I have tried most of the programmes on my machine and the best compromise is the hour-long programme spinning at 1400. If I want extra spin I can run it at 1600 for 15 minutes.

No and no. The clothes came out still mucky looking but it's only work stuff so will be covered in liner tomorrow!!

Sounds like you lived with your mum for too long. Girls are now warned not to marry men like you.

Next time, look at the labels in the collar or inside seam, and match them to this

On the back of your washing powder box or liquid bottle it will tell you how much to use according to the degree of dirtiness and the hardness of the water. In your case it would have been measured in Capfuls. It also tells you how to use it on stains.

Whites are better washed in powder because it contains bleaching agents.

The machine in your pic is coded per fabric. For mixed fibres like polycotton, you use the button for the more delicate component. So use the synthetic button.

The majority of people using washing machines only use one programme for most washes regardless of materials.

Unless you use bio powder, it seems as though everything has bleaching agents in it nowadays. If anyone knows anything for colourds that isn't a bio powder, and doesn't have bleaching agents, then I'd be pleased to hear about it.

I have never used a washing machine.

I asked the missus to show me once and she said "you shove the clothes in here, the soap in here and press this button..."
Far to complicated for me.

I suppose she's grateful that I'm the one who cleans the kitchen. Ho hum.
