500mm cooker in a 600mm gap

We have left a 600mm gap for the cooker in our rental\renovation project so any size cooker will fit but its likely that we will put a 500mm cooker in as they are the cheapest.

To avoid a 50mm gap each side, is there any sort of worksurface edging you can get that are thick enough to fill the gap or anyother tricks or suggestions.

you just have to pad it out as best you can
can you move the worktop and have the gap at the other end where you may be able to hide it??
not ideal but iff the landlord fitted the worktop himself theres a good chance it will be loosley fixed with edging trim

other options are to make a unit about 80mm wide from white melimane to store trays with maybe a bit off block worktop to fill the gap
gaps should ideally be 10mm each side off the cooker below the worktop

check the manufactures instructions then pad out to leave the gap they recommend gas get rgi to fit cooker for you

Most freestanding cookers need around a 25mm gap either side anyway. So extra space isn't going to look too bad. Anyway, it will be easier for the tenant to clean down the sides.

ok as the "fitter" and you dont know the cooker size you leave a 620mm gap between cabinets and 500mm between the worktop and trim accordingly

you can leave the worktop loose untill cooker is fitted or invest in a "cut to wall" jigsaw blade at around £11

ok you leave the cabinets at the max [620]but the worktop at the minimum[500]
so you can trim to fit and pad out the gap as nessisery
