I was in a plumbers' merchants today (new immersion... you've seen the thread!).

In the boxes behind the counter I saw they had 58mm compression fittings. As in elbows, tees, couplings, the lot (apart from washing machine connectors, and ironically I thought, reducers!)

So, I was wondering where 58mm copper pipe would be used on a domestic installation. They had far too many of these things, too close at hand for them to be an industrial-only fitting.

block of flats with a shared water main,a care home, school, some public buildings you may be surprised where they are used quite common in shops/hair dressers/restaurants even sainsburys.

Never seen 58mm !
42, 54, 67, 76 yes certainly. If the pressure is low (ie from header type tanks) then the size goes up. So does the price - a 76mm compression elbow is £383. Spanners get chunky, too.
