Which would you guys recommend? Looking between the makita 5903 and hitachi c9u at the moment.

Buy a decent/suitable blade. It can make a world of difference.

I've got an old C9U, so old it only shows inches on the height adjuster. Use it in the Triton as a table saw. Still going strong.
