95 Audi A4 1.9 diesel intermittant starting problem

turn the key engine fires then cuts out and not able to start the engine , leave it a while and it starts runs fine , then a couple of days later the same problem . any ideas ? ........

get a diagnostic check done on it first, but my first guess would be ignition switch or dodgy earth/ battery connection

I would check the actuator on the throttle housing as these are known to stick in the closed position which will cause engine to start then cut out. Hope this helps as you can check this yourself without paying for diagnostics and if it is this it might not show up on it anyway.
