Hi

I am tiling my bathroom floor and was wondering what would be the best way to tile around the doorway (cutting tiles to fit around doorway or cutting into doorframe for tiles).
I will be putting a wooden door threshold in what sealant is best to use for around it?
I also have a few questions about laying plywood as the base for tiling I heard it is best to cut the ply so that it is slightly smaller then the room for easy fitting but what kind of sealant do I use around the edges.
What is the best screws to use for securing the plywood, floor screws or drywall screw?

I am also tiling my hallway floor and would like to know the best way to tile to the edge of the stairs (cutting tiles to fit around the stairs panel or cutting into the panel for the tiles).

Also I am using 33x33 cm ceramic tiles what is the recommended notched trowel size?

Any help would be appreciated.

I've never cut into a door frame yet to lay floor tiles. If you're any good, there's no need.

Why do you want to put sealant around it?

You don't, the adhesive will fill those gaps.

Any wood screws are fine - I'd recommend a pozi drive head so that you can use a drill/driver to screw them in. Have a read of the tiling sticky for details on screws.

What floor covering have you on your stairs?

How flat are your walls? Also, you want to be using a powdered adhesive.

Thanks for your reply.
I didn't want to cut the doorframe but I have heard of people doing it and just wanted to be sure what way was the best.
I don't know what made me think of putting sealant around the door threshold.
I will be using a Ardex flexible powdered adhesive, but I will be doing the floor not the walls and I don't know what sized notch trowel to use for it.
As for the stairs I'm laying carpet on it.
