Hi

I am having my patio done and an issue with the aco drain put in.

The current drain takes water from the gutter only so only surface water. Adding the aco drains is meant to take some of the water off the patio also.

Our builder has put in a length of about 6 meters of aco drain across the front of the patio against the house. Where the old 110mm pushfit gully was he has put the aco resting directly over the 110 connection over it drilled a small hole and let the water drain straight from above into it.

Although the water is dripping straight into the gully it's obviously not watertight as there is no connection. It's also a small hole which makes unblocking that area difficult.

I have the right connecting bits and might ask him to redo that 1 meter section of aco draining and add an adaptor below the aco drain going straight into a female 110 pipe socket and pipe then feeding straight into the gully ( female connection).

There are 2 questions here

1) Is this necessary or should I leave it as it is?

2) As the photo shows there is a risk that the adaptor and 110 pipe is not aligned with the gully.

The only way would be to take up all the other drains and realign and these have been cemented in.

Any thoughts to resolve this?

Thank you please see pics

Should be OK as the new gully is the same size as the down pipe, and capacity wise presumably the patio falls away from the aco, but it also turns on if it drains adequately - combined system or adequate soakaway?

If anything the hole might cause water to back up but its not clear what the line up is underneath.

OP,
1. You need easy access to the gully for cleaning out the trap and/or rodding the drain line. At present, you dont have easy access to the gulley.
2. The Aco lengths of gutter c/w built-in knock-outs for vertical drainage. No need to be cutting holes.
3. There are various Aco fittings for end run and outlet drainage - you could call Aco for better advice for what you will need?

Thanks for the helpful replies .
Presently drains towards the house because of gradient.

I have the adaptor and will need to ultimately sort this out now

I agree for access it is important to be able to get there and I don't have that currently.

I think the feeling is it's not ok and going to have this sorted. Thanks for the replies
