Good evening all,

We have a small north-facing downstairs room which we have turned into an office. On one of the external walls, we’ve been considering putting up a few of the wooden acoustic panels for both aesthetic and acoustic reasons (the room turns into a bit of an echo chamber if on a call).

Given it’s north-facing and wanting to try and be a little more energy efficient, I’m wondering about putting some 25mm celotex/kingspan PIR against the wall first, and then the acoustic panelling over the top. My question is whether this:

A) Seems reasonable - and if there’s anything that may be worth noting before ploughing ahead?

B) How best to secure the PIR and Acoustic Panelling? For additional acoustic performance, the panel manufacturers recommend battening out the wall and using rockwool between the battens, but I’m prioritising thermal efficiency here over acoustic. Given this, my understanding is that using battens (which I could then screw the panels into) would decrease the thermal performance, relative to just covering the wall with PIR entirely? One thought I do currently have is using black 100mm washer head timber screws that would screw through both the panel, and the PIR into the wall - does that sound reasonable?

Many thanks in advance as always!!

Just stick kingspan to wall with foam.
A few mechanical fixings through.
Stick the acoustics panels on with CT1 or stixall.
