could try ebay or gumtree or even go to the local tool hire store and ask if they have any second hand ones they are willing to sell.

i use a scaffold tube with an adjustable baseplate in the end. the adj.baseplate is an internal spigot with a thread on it. and is seperate to the tube i got them off a scaffolder i know. i can cut the scaffold tube to suit the job im doing. downsideis i can only support direct loads, i can,t attach a tallboy to hold up brickwork when say fitting a lintel
