Hi

I've added a plug socket from another one as a spur. Thought this would be OK...

Turns out it isn't! Some other plugs in another room are now showing a L E reverse fault and do not work. They previously worked OK and have not been changed

The one I put in works OK and shows no faults.

Any got any ideas of how to fix this?
Thanks

The faults show up on a £30 plug in socket tester i got from screwfix.

Yes, all works when I take the spur out.
I added the live and neutral of the spur, to the live and neutral in the original socket.

In the original, there was 2 lives in together, there is now 3 in total with the one I've added.

And the same with the neutral, was 2 in together, now 3.

Hopefully also the same with the earth wire so that there are now 3 earths together?

What about the other end of the cable, at your new socket, are you certain that this is connected correctly? L, N and E all in the correct place?

Yes, earth's are all in too.

That's a good shout, I will double check the other end.

I've read one few threads about some types of circuits not being suitable for spurs, but not really sure what they mean, or how to check if it's suitable or not

Show us pictures of the wiring at the donor socket where you connected the spur ,and the wiring at the new socket.
