We have a 15" LCD TV which has a space and blanking plate for a DVD player. It looks like it may be a re-branded Bush unit

Would I be correct to assume that the DVD player would be standard OEM type, as sold for PC's and that inside there will be standard connectors?

ie if a got a DVD player, it would be a simple matter of fixing it in the slot and connecting it to the [vacant] block on the main board and it will work?

Probably not as the firmware in the TV most likely won't have the ability to operate it.

Just buy a small stand alond dvd player and bolt it to the back of the tv.
