After removing an old gas fire and back boiler I’m converting the space in the chimney into shelves for the dvd player sky box etc. There was 2.5 mm cable from the consumer unit into the chimney that powered something to do with the old boiler system. I’ve replaced the fuse in the consumer unit with a 20 amp and created a 4 – 5 metre radial circuit running two double switched sockets. I am now wondering if I can add a switch so that I can turn the sockets off without bending down and reaching into the back of the dvd shelves. The socket would only add another 400 – 600 mm onto the radial circuit.
thanks

I don't see why not. A 20A DP switch would be ideal for this.

Or you could get some of those pluggy in remote controlled socket jobbies to save altering the wiring.
