Good morning all!
Having recently had the chimney removed , steels fitted and half the ceiling down it’s a good idea to thing about the loft joists. Currently in ‘bedroom 1’ it has two 6inch beams going from wall to wall in a ‘cross’. The joists In-between are made of quarter logs with the cut face pointing down allowing it to be boarded. We would like to use the loft space for some storage, nothing serious just the usual bits and bobs. My thought was to add extra 4x2 joists sitting on the walls with joist hangers on the beams , pretty much replicating what’s there now. ( although joist hangers are not used)
Then after more research 6x2 maybe a better option and this would also keep level with the two original beams already there.
Whatever we do in this bedroom we will do next door when we start in that room.
In my head this will work and be fine , but always open to ideas.
Cheers
Quick sketch added to go with my rambling
