I need to connect a 2.5mm2 cable to a new MK mcb on my consumer unit. I’ve attached a picture. From what I can see, the mcb type looks like the following type: https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-sentry-20a-sp-type-b-mcb/358kp

Can anyone confirm?

Also, there is a RCD that seems to do the rcd job across all the mcbs. So is it a matter of connecting only the brown live to the new mcb and the neutral blocks are numbered 1 to 16. So is it matter of connecting to any neutral block and any earth block on top?

I’m guessing that the neutral blocks are all going through the RCD.

Thanks

This is notifiable work as it is a new circuit. Really you should have a registered electrician do this work. Especially as you don’t seem to have a grasp of the basics. Sorry.

No, the neutral must be connected to the correct terminal strip on the RCD side.
If this is to feed the external air con unit where you couldn't read the terminal numbers then please get an electrician.
It is notifiable work, needs properly tested with expensive test equipment, and the cable shouldn't be T+E if it's external.

And I'd be inclined to use a RCBO too .
If terminals 1-8 neutrals are going to the rcd and a new circuit neutral is on that same block then isn’t it protected by the existing rcd?

Yes the cable is T+E but it’s going through proper conduit and the run is about 5meters. Cable is sealed both ends of the conduit

Not all the MCBs are RCD protected. Want to guess again?
And that RCD doesn't meet today's requirements for a new circuit. So you'll need a compliant one.
Aren’t only neutrals 1-8 going through the RCD?
Not correct. Want to guess again?

Its a 16th edition split jobby. Can't you remember that far back?

Not really. Wasn’t sure in the first place hence the question mark. Can’t remember any edition as it’s not my trade. "Guess again?” Are you running a quiz, being unnecessarily rude or just an arsehole?

Not being rude. As the OP obviously hasn’t the skills, I think it irresponsible to provide a “how to do it” essay.

With respect, you shouldn’t be providing guidance if you don’t know.
I didn’t see your ? as a query for the OP.

Very unhelpful thanks. Got it done

I made that mistake in 'the other thread'
But I think the rest is totally correct, viz:
...

It shouldn't really be twin and earth.

I should be asking if you are competent to be installing an aircon outside unit.
With respect, at this point I believe you are in over your head and recommend getting someone in.

Why did he (edit: the aircon installer) not complete the job?
However it is totally obvious we have an incompetant who refuses to accept it and will blunder on until it works

I believe neither of us are being rude.
