I'm adding a some noggins mid span on a first floor to try to stiffen the floor up a bit.
The joists are 47x200mm (400mm centres) and I have some 47x170mm to nog with. Plan is to stagger the noggins and screw through the existing joists straight into the end of each noggin. Was planning on using 6x110mm screws. I have an impact driver, but if necessary I'll do a pilot hole too.
Is there any best practice on how this should be done? Does anyone have any advice on how many screws I'd need for each join?
I'm thinking three screws at each end. One halfway up the noggin and the other two at the 1/3 and 2/3 points.
