What is the best way to transfer adhesive from tub to the wall?

I appreciate this sounds like a stupid question but I wondered whether there was any professional method [e.g. hawk]

Have previously scopped it up with the straight edge of the trowel and then created the lines with the notched edge but this is a bit messy [but then maybe that's just me!!]

Thanks

i slap it on with the notch trowell, usually not getting it all over the place, as im not using a hap hazard method.

using 2 tools to do one job in my mind is very daft.

bearing in mind i used to work for toyota many moons ago and the word "kaizan" was drilled into us, basically saying why use 2 trowels when 1 will do.....

Kaizen means improvement - nothing to do with trowels.

no need to be pedantic mr GC you get the point, and i thought it was a good analogy myself.
